Phone calls are most effective when used the day before a crucial committee or floor vote. When undecided or wavering in support, a flood of telephone calls from district voters can sway the legislator to make the “right” decision.
Even though phone calls are usually accepted by staff members, be assured that they communicate “pro” and “con” numbers to their legislative bosses. Do not discount the use of phone calls or other forms of communication – faxes, or emails, for example, or hand delivered messages. When well placed, they can be the decided edge for a legislative victory.
